Make Your Own Stained Glass Jewelry Boxes - The Perfect Craft For Kids

By Christine Pinkston

It is not that difficult to make stained glass jewelry boxes that will look just as beautiful as the genuine thing. It is a project that is perfect for the beginners in the handcrafting art.

The glass that is used on this project is rather small, and this will make it a very good beginner project. You can make the details on the glass very simple or highly detailed, as you want to decrease or increase the difficulty of the project.

The first thing to do is to sand the outer surface the stained glass jewelry boxes with a piece of light sand paper. Subsequently, carefully wipe the box with a damp cloth and remove the dust elements. Now let the glass jewelry boxes dry.

Now, you need to paint the box with your preferred choice of colors. You may use some faux finishing methods in order to make the jewelry box look pretty decorative. Next, you need to leave the surface of the jewelry box unpainted in the area the glass will go.

Next, you need to apply some polish as a layer on the painted stained glass jewelry boxes. Let them dry completely and sketch the desired design on a piece of paper. The paper needs to have the same size with the surface of the glass. Place it carefully under the glass.

The next step is to paint the main lines with the most important shade of paint. You need to let the principal paint dry entirely. Next, you need to cover the stained glass jewelry boxes design with the selected colors. You should let the glass dry carefully. The last thing is to glue the glass with the painted surface downward on the box. After you glue cord around the border of the glass, your stained glass jewelry boxes will be ready.
